I'm redoing a 64 that needs a little of everything.When finished it'll be a volksrod.Heres a few of many more questions.
What other year parts are interchangable with it?
What type of 12v wire harness to go with, factory type but for what year?
Should I run a generator or alternator?
Are there disc brake conversions for the front and rear available?
Its basically a rusted shell that has been cutup into a baja, has alot of rust and a seized dp motor.I figure to get it "driveable" it'll need motor work, brakes, wiring, and 2 front seats. |

Parts interchangability varies depending on the part. You'd have to be more specific.
I'd stick with the 6 volt wiring harness. The wires are bigger guage than the 12 volt.
Alt vs. gen depends on what you want it to do. Will you be running a big stereo? Big off-road lights? If so, go alt., if not, you're fine with a gen.
Yes there are disc brake conversions available for both front and rear. They are pricey....especially the rear. Some rear sets allow parking brake, some don't. _________________ '64 Bahama Blue Beetle / steel sunroof
