It probably would be easier and less expensive to take a old 930 and modify it to accept a Ghia body. Confused

there was a german guy that adapated an oval body to a 911 chassis,
so I am sure it could be done if thought out and probably much less
expensive.

Or you could do like the guy in South florida who had a Porsche race
shop build a complete one off chassis for a 21 window bus that incorporated
the complete suspension, trans, wheels, brakes and engine from a Porsche
993 & 996. He was able to build it for a little over $100,000.

A bit more modern, I know, but what's this then?:

That Golf (Rabbit) looks a bit out of proportion. And what cheeky owner would have the nerve to fit "Phone Dials" on it? Does he think it's a Porsche...?

...Yes, I believe he does! [The Sbarro/Arzt Golf-bodied 928]

Honestly, that commercial really helped the sales of the KG to go high!

A pretty innovative marketing style of the Volkswagen. They had the disadvantages of the volksgawen they their selling points!

Marketing strategy!

A Ghia/Porsche that should have been made . . . it's just a REALLY quick photo-chop with all the pieces in matching scale, but you get the idea.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v136/TeamEvil/914ghiacabrio.jpg

I mean, they already had the Ghia roof stampings/cabrio assemblies, and were working on the 914 as a replacement for the Ghia/entry level Porsche. Why not work on something like this. Sure looks like a sweet beginning styling exercise, even by todays standards.

20/20 hindsight in play I guess.

bumpers!!
