A float broke this morning on one of my kadrons while I was on the freeway. Can it be fixed?

It's the brass type - the top bracket broke off clean at the point where it was brazed on at the factory. I just ordered a new pair but they won't be in for another week or two. I was thinking it could be brazed back, or maybe just jb welded temporarily til I get the new ones Confused

Possibly...You say brazed?... Usually a float is soldered (lead/tin base) if you use low heat and solder you may be able to fix it, if you can't, you can't. Fair danger of destroying it if your skills aren't good. Brazing takes a higher heat as it is based on melting brass and it require "red" heat which is a in temperature range that you can possibly melt float before you are able to bond bracket to float body.

I would say its ok to try soldering, but brazing will probably be a disaster...

If you have a good radiator shop in your area they could probably fix it for you. They solder and braze brass all day.

It should solder easily. Not too much solder, or your "float" may "sink"...Don't use Jb weld inside the carb.

You can get new floats from AJ at Low Budget. They are not very expensive.
