it is the number below the gas tank and above the made in west germany tag. i know its a 58 but is there anyway to get it more specific. and i also now about all the archives but i cant understand them.
anyways the number is:252168

| That looks like the body number, which puts it at March '58. Post the 7-digit VIN from the pan or the top right of the VIN plate to be sure. |

the number from the back seat is: 1893940

I'm confused. So the number on the VIN plate in the trunk is the same as the number on the tunnel under the rear seat? Then I dont know the gist of your original question with whatever this number is 252168, since it's not the body number.

the number from the back seat is: 1893940 |
This number dates to Early April '58. The body number given falls around mid March, so I guess its possible the car is legit.  |
