Need CV grease and tired of getting greased. My last tube of the "good stuff" ran me $30 from McKenzies. However, Redline Synthetic CV joint grease (CV-2) is only around $15 from some providers (grease gun cartridge). I've used Reline products in motorcycles (trans and final drives) with great results and Redline products are generally considered top shelf. So, I'm thinking I'm going to go with Redline synthetic unless anyone has a reason to suggest otherwise. If anyone has experience with the Redline CV-2, can you tell me grease's compatibility with moly greases? I'll contact Redline directly, but it would be nice to hear some real-world feedback if possible. Thanks. _________________ Yes Virginia, beer can make you smarter.

I run Honda outboard cv grease in my 930's.It must work because i haven't packed them again in 4 years until the other day when i cut one of the boots accidentally and had to replace 1 side.I think my cost is about 4 bucks a tube.It may not be a super high tech synthetic(or maybe it is) but it lasts for 200k in daily drivers so i gave it a shot. |

Heard back from Redline. The CV-2 (syn red moly) is marginally compatible with non-syn greases. In other words, a full cleaning (which is a good idea anyway). Found the stuff even cheaper at $9 a cartridge, so going to give it a try.
