It's the bushing that the shaft with the gear on it pushes into in the trans bellhousing. You have to remove the starter, look with a flashlight into the hole where the starter goes and then look for a hole big enough for a pencil to go in about 3-4 inches back, there should be bronze'ish colored ring around the small hole's inside area, that is the bushing, get a ez-out that is just slightly smaller than the hole and use it remove the bushing, pop in a new one and it should be good. Just don't let the bushings drop into your bellhousing/flywheel area.

It's the little ring that is in the bell housing that the starter slides into. Make sure you have the right one too. I had the same problem using a 12v starter with a 6v tranny.

No, it's actually in the transmission bellhousing. _________________ All your Buses are belong to us.
