I rode to work this morning on a BMW... taking off my helmet, my boss said "...did you see the trade that came in last night?"

I go out back and find this:

She looks so-so. Obviously a 1973. Solid pans, good hard top and soft top. Factory roll bar too. The owner had a VW dealership "in the day", but hey bought this one from a restoration shop. Engine is not original, and the exhaust is typical Beetle, not Thing. There's a patina of motley around it, probably due to being from coastal Oregon.

It was traded on a pristine '64 356 Porsche. I have no idea what they're going to do with it. My boss wants it, but he doesn't want to pay much for it.

I'd love to pick some parts off of it. Sigh. Probably not much of a chance, but the roll bar would be nice...

Are you interested in a roll bar? I have one that I'm thinking of selling and I live just over the border in Idaho.

I'd love to have a roll bar, but I'm in NC. Shipping would probably exceed the cost of the bar! Wink

I'd love to buy it, save for two problems. No place to put it, and the fact that I'm financially crawling out of a hole.

Happily, my Thing is coming along. I should be able to drive it soon.

Until then, two wheels. I've been commuting on my '77 XL-125 Honda and '66 BMW R60/2 to work. 110 mpg on the Honda, over 60 mpg on the BMW. It's hard not to throw a leg over when fuel prices are climbing past $4 a gallon.

Aw c'mon - man up and buy it. You know you'll regret it if you don't. There's no such thing as-too many junk cars in the yard. I have 6-cars and my neighbors love me for it. Laughing

If I had the room, I'd buy it (somehow). Alas, with a Westy, Thing, New Beetle Convertible, 6 motorcycles and a '71 Dodge truck, there's little room for anything else.

As it is, my wife is bitching about yard tool space!

If I brought another Thing home, she might get on her broom and leave.

Hey... it's a thought Wink

I know what you mean. If I get something new, something I already have will have to leave to make room. One to work on while I have one to drive. Some kind of Blonde logic.
