I'm working on a 70 SC that will have a 2276 in the back. The owner gave us a tack to install on top of the dash. I was thinking is it possible to install a tach in place of the clock in the stock gauge panel. And if so, which tach fits best. _________________ Glenn

i bought an older vdo at a swap for a buck and paid six and a half times [picked up in redding, their shipping is a bear] more for the bus boys ring that holds it in the clock spot. they way it goes, works great. _________________ When you cross an Irishman, they never forget. I mean, never. |

$6 for a ring so you can mount a tach in that spot. _________________ -=Rob

Glenn,
Another option: I pulled a VDO tach out of a BMW a few years ago (at the wreckers) and it fit perfectly in my '69 bus, where the stock clock would have been located (the bus came with just the blank plate). I don't remember what type of BMW it was, however.

Glenn,
I have a VDO tach mounted using the Ring from Bus Boys, I also mounted guages using their thre guage panel below the radio.
Oil pressure, temp, and voltmeter were bought on ebay from a 914, came with senders for around $50
Sorry for the poor quality pics

Movement is out of an old Jaguar with VW speedo numbers shrunk and silk-screened on. Has worked flawlessly for 27 years.

Hi have a vdo tach intalled in my blanking plate/clock spot. I mounted mine with a homemade ring made out of a piece of sheet aluminum that I cut a big hole in for the tach, and then two more for the screws. I used the blanking plate for the measurements. It was really easy. _________________ air-cooled or nothing for me

Here is how mine is. I don't have a problem with a small tach but I'd like one in th 6,000 range. Maybe even a 5,000 rpm tach.

If you get that VDO tach make sure you get the $.02 diode from Radio Shack. Your tach will bounce all over the place without it. _________________ ----------
