Went up to Red Rocks to see Jack White last night. This guy parked in front of me; we've seen each other before at shows. Our VIN numbers are within 300 of the other
Great night, great friends, great show.

Well Cecilia took us from Vancouver B.C. To Cannon Beach Oregon and back with only a few hitches. Her starter hates the heat, and she would not turn over a couple times while in Oregon (until it cooled down) and then on the way back home, we had to push/roll start her twice (Stopping for gas/rest stop).
Check oil light is acting funny too.. but she made it! |

Went on an evening drive.
Not very far, about 10 miles out in the woods from my home
to a picnic area by a lake.
This is a nice little place that nobody else seems to use.
Been there many times, and never seen a soul.
It was a perfect place on a perfect evening.
Great weather, and no mosquitoes in sight.
Let my dog go swimming for a while.
Then searched a little for a geocache that seems to be missing.
After that I took the slow way home on some back roads through the woods, and got home just as the sun set. _________________ 1967 Bug (euro) |

Enjoying the sun & wildflowers after a misty start!
This past weekend, Tortuga went to Banff/Yoho/Kootenay National Parks to support Josh biking the Golden Triangle in one day. A loop from Castle Junction->Radium BC->Golden BC->Castle Junction, a 320 km bike ride.
Close to the end of the day

My faithful and trusty servant dragged me up and down the local coast without even breaking a sweat. Too bad the surf sucked.

Got covererd in dirt after the dust storm.
I was working on it and suddenly looked at sky and that was coming my way yesterday
Just barely had enough time to close it and ran inside to close my garage door

Loaded Scooby up and did a yard sale today at Nelson's shop. Today not as much $$$ as 2 weeks ago. I could put 2X as much in the van as I did. Much easier than using car. Plus got to take a little cooler, some food and some ice water. Will do another one in August, cleaning locker and a lot of things I just don't use out. Now's the time to do it. _________________ '09 2.5L Jetta 5 cylinder, 5 spd, super turbo, see thread in H2O Cooled Jetta, etc...

Went out Geocaching on what was SUPPOSED to be a hot dry day! But since this is Germany, the weather man uses dice for the forecast.....
It didn't look that wet!
All in all- LOTS of fun! (Well, for me anyway, my wife was mildly annoyed!)
....we never did find that cache! _________________ 1990 Feldjäger Syncro AAZ

Well Scooby decided to begin to throw the driver's side tie rod. Fortunately I recognized something was wrong and got off a main road. Crawled under the front end, all Greek to me, but I persevered comparing one side to other and I noticed about 1" of fresh metal on one side. Good ole flat bed got me back to Nelson's 5 minutes before they were closing early for our July 1st Long Weekend. So Tuesday will get at least one new tie rod but maybe both.
As I said I recognized something wrong and it was quickly getting worse so made the decision to call for a tow. So I'm okay with it as it's sorta normal for it's age and was not on the highway!!!!
Will spend my long weekend cleaning Scooby and maybe get some compounding done to get her up to par! Gee what are you doing on this long weekend _________________ '09 2.5L Jetta 5 cylinder, 5 spd, super turbo, see thread in H2O Cooled Jetta, etc...

Vinnie carried my tools to my daughters house to replace the baseboards, waiting patiently outside. On the return home the AC blew so cold I was shivering. _________________ Tim Potts

Took my Tristar out for a weekend outing to my favorite camping spot which I've been going to since I was a kid .(no I won't tell you where it is ) .
On the way there ,we left late ,I could not get my trailer lights working so we went anyway .My trailer is small and you can see the bounce of of the front of the trailer anyway .
On the way up the hill ,I saw a guy with a motorcycle up behind me sound like he was honking his horn or something ,it was a kind of clicking sound . As I came in to a passable spot ,he went by me and waved . When we got to the top of the summit he was waiting for me . I thought he was going to tell me my trailer had no lights . Turns out it was another Vanagon guy Andrew Payne ,I thought he was parked in Moab with huge Motor home and Syncro country homes behind him. What caught my eye as he came past us was that he had his Bicycle strapped to his back ,sticking wheels out to the rear . Said he had spent the day biking .
It was something I had never seen before .

Did some “glamping” in S.Oregon (that’d be glamour camping). Indian Mary Campground – highly recommended and b.fast down the road in Galice is a M-U-S-T. Great home base for some day hikes, wine tasting, and rafting. Cheers!
