was out walking the other day and a guy in the neighborhood was stacking up pavers... he said they were free for the taking... i need pavers... perfect!
to the Vanagon!
this is 525 i need to move after already moving 390.
what a treat that low deck is... moving 915 blocks did not kill my back. and i could just drive right up and unload
that is 381 pavers, there are two styles in that group, a tumbled and a more pressed style. but for free, i can make it work.
my Vanagon parking/work pad will look awesome when i get it finished this fall. _________________ 1991 Vanagon GL Camper

Stock 2WD on Grabber AT2 tires...
I got the bug for "trail spotting" while out in Utah a couple years ago and I'm doing more of
it close to home this summer. A couple weeks ago I actually found myself on an ATV trail...
(Thanks, GooGoo maps! ) ...with unexpected stretches of mud, off-camber rock
scrambles... (granted, small rocks but a significant slope in both directions!) ...multiple
water crossings, timber & board bridges, etc...
I needed to use my traction boards as a ramp up to one particular bridge, otherwise no way
to navigate the 10" step up on the approaching side...
I regret taking no pictures, but I was admittedly nervous about being found and the possibility
of an associated $500 ticket were it to be a conservation officer... Happy to report it was
just me on the trail that day...
Long story short, I'm very impressed with what this rig can do, and I've only been stuck a
couple times so far! (But that's what the traction tools and other recovery toys are for...)

My van got stuck due 100% to user (me) error (I didn't drive around the hole)...

Assumed daily driver status, or as much daily driving as a retired owner of a dying minivan requires. The minivan will be donated and I will probably find something else of that ilk, not wanting to rack up miles on the Westy, but it'll do for now. It has cool A/C as the Virginia summer cranks up, I'm keeping it loosened up and am prepping it for the next camping trip (if, as and when) and I'm generally enjoying it. _________________ '87 Westy in Wolfram Grey Metallic |

What is dying on it, or is the dying happening to another vehicle? I got lost for a minute with that.... _________________ '68 Westy- my first VW and vehicle/Bus- long gone.- sold it to a traveling Swiss couple....

The Dodge minivan is dying. Not really, but it has reached the point where maintenance right now will exceed the value. For example, the catalytic converter is clogged and the replacement is a grand for the part, plus labor. Then we'll need tires for inspection, plus some other stuff. I can drive the Westy for a while and wait for another cheap minivan to show up. _________________ '87 Westy in Wolfram Grey Metallic |

Here is what I am doing currently to my Van. I purchased this 88 in 95 from York VW, PA with 60k on the clock. I got me through college and raising my step son who is now in the Navy. Before COVID, I saw an ad on here for a van being parted out in Canada. The gentleman (totally awesome dude, I won’t name out of respect but I hope he chimes in) sent me video of it cranking open and closed. So, my brother-in-law and I gassed up his pickup and I rented and trailer, loaded up some saws, snacks and passports and off we went to bring it home. I was already in the middle of a total tear down and my my friend Tony at TNT restorations assured me that it would be now problem (he’s such a good liar) as of last night, all is well. Everything is cut and the transplant is going better than expected. I’m sure many will chose me for ripping off a perfectly good roof but, I’m to stoked to be brought down. Bought a dash ac from Van-again that will be going in and I’ve installed a gowesty solar hook up on the drivers side, Opposite where the gas cap is on the passenger. Will post as it progresses. Plan is to be done by September.

The roof is swapped. Now I have to make sure the glass fits before the finished weld. Exciting!! I’ll have a late model with a sunroof, RAD! I’ll post the progress on the thread I’ve linked above.
Best,
