The trim around it looks vary bay-dashboard-esque... but i've never seen one before

It may be for tracking speed and time of arrival in the ambulance. You might put a paper circle into the clock and it would record a days worth of data.

Maybe a second recording speedo for the back? Looks like a splitter box on the cable, that ashtray isn't going to let it fit a regular dashboard.

100 k's top speed is pretty tame for an ambulance, but I guess you need to give the patient time to finish his smoke Confused
