|
|
As I continue to look at engine swap options form,y aircooled, I am finding that the original fan shroud seems nearly impossible to locate. I see that Flexalite makes a rad. fan that bolts to the vanagon radiator. In the same vein, I am looking at a Hayden aux. fan control unit that uses a temp probe mounted in the radiator fins. Seems quite simple and straightforward. Has anyone utilized this or a similar setup? Any words of caution or tips would be great.
Thanks. _________________ 1981 Westfalia with a 2001 Cabrio ABA

Why not replicate the water cooled vanagon set up and add the new shriuds from GoWesty? Seems to work well for all conversions. |

just an FYI, that I'll be parting out a van in the next month(s) and also am planning to travel thru northern VT on the 3rd of July with a stop at Ben & Jerry's factory for a tour..
Pmail me and we can talk fan + shroud + Harness ..
but yes you can also add an aftermarket fan pretty easily.
depending on what power plant you use the radiator is oversized and the fans don't run often as it is.. plus it's usually cool in Upper VT.
in my 1.8T with the front mount intercooler radiator I had to eliminate the oem shroud+fan for a more compact one from the 98 passat.. was good enough for that car.. just took some creative mounting.. _________________
