My guess is a frozen lake some near or in the Alps.

Not yet I believe. There is some discussion on it starting on page 56/57 of this thread (... Shocked )but no solid conclusion. Best guess I believe was to store sand or salt for snowy roads. Here's a better pic for anyone who wants to take a guess (and no that is a not a skirt…)
