I saw one for sale at the Pomona Swap Meet a few years ago. Not sure if it was the same color or not, though.

Here's one that not only has one on the trailer, but on top of the bus as well. This one was at vintage meet a few years ago.

That's not a trailerboat, it's merely a trailer or caravan, with a boat-shaped lid or roof!

If you really want to see a proper trailer boat, check out the following:

This two-piece, folding, hinged boat cum trailer, called the Maverick, designed by David Peppiatt, of Naiad Marine was quoted as costing £800 in 1983.

It's quoted specifications as a trailer, are as follows:

Length – 5 feet
Width – 4 feet 6 inches
Height – 3 feet
Capacity – 45 cubic feet
Payload – 450 pounds

It's quoted specifications as a trailer, are as follows:

Length – 10 feet
Beam – 4 feet 6 inches
Depth – 1 foot 6 inches
Sail Area – 65 square feet
Weight – 100 pounds

Quoted contact details, in 1983 were as follows:

David Peppiatt, 44 Hazelwood, Great Linford, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, England.

Tel. +44 (0) 908 605 252 (obsolete number)

The above picture showing the Maverick being recovered from the water, folded in half and the trailer section being attached, was originally featured in a magazine article, as follows:

You are absolutely incorrect. The boat attaches to the roof. I have seen it come off and put into the water. Check out this pic closely, you can see the clamps on this trailer boat where it attaches to the roof. The boat on the roof of this bus also comes off the same way.

If true, that's not not immediately apparent from the picture, because one can see the clips on one side only! Many side-hinged elevating roofs and trailer lids, have similar fastening clips. Even some straight-lift elevating roofs, have fastening clips on both sides.

The only fully convincing pictures, would be where the boat shaped moulding, is shown fitted to the vehicle, trailer or caravan roof and after it has been removed!

If true,

If true?

Read the script on the side, it says Trailerboat so I am pretty sure it is a Trailerboat.

Ever think that you only need clips on one side, with the otherside held in by hooking itself into a track maybe?

i saw that trailer on tv show called rv extream(sp?) . it is made for 2 yrs, in the late 50's by teardrop. the boat, clamps on one side and it folds over.most of the time you will find them without the boat.but it is highly prized in the teardrop community.

There was a camper trailer similar to the one posted at this years Hershey meet. It looked a little bigger than the one pictured, and also had the look of a 1954' Ford back end. Really neat setup. Very Happy
