it started life as a 72 standard bus or kombi what ever ....some P.O. at one time replaced the typ4 1700 with a typ1...yaaaaay! so i lowered it put 17 inch audi wheels on it and decided to put a late 70's westy kit in it. which we will strip and refinish, already have the right z-bed material from WW..also to honor its somewhat bastard south african heritage i will rebuild the typ1 this winter in to a nice powerful 1915cc mit weber 44idfs and vanagon ignition. here's a few photo's i have so far even with the 1600 its super fun to camp in!

slight mod...grind off the O.G. hub centric ring then buy H&R 14mm press in studs that are aproxx. 20mm longer than stock. the rear needed some love with a t r y angle file so the wheel is now also locking the nut on the hub... and the center caps in the rear required me to cut off the O.G. clips and bolt them on with small allen bolts nothing major totally worth it.

Nice bus!! What happen to all your veneer on your cabinets? Are you in the process of refinishing them? If so let me know how it goes for you. I have a few cabinets that I would like to re-veneer but don't know if you can get the correct veneer.

I went with Hella"s and put in the illegal 100watt Bulbs. Shines like a frigg'n 747 coming in for a landing at night! Shocked
