I haven't seen those in particular, but WW is the best quality. _________________ CH³NO²

I love and support WW, but the door latches they currently sell as replacemnts for ovals are of very poor quality. I've got two of them in my oval now and I'm looking to replace them with used orginals. |

Never bought anything from WW, but I read all great reviews. Usually look on thesamba classifieds for the "real thing" and usually find what I need... generally try to stay away from repos. _________________ 5/50, pastel green 11G - SOLD

I agree. And I should say I think WW is a great company and they are always my first choice and general "go to" supplier for all my VW needs.
That said, these repo locks are just not up to the original quality, and frankly, I can't get them to work even after buying the later striker plates that supposedly go with these lock mechanisms. Its not an adjustment issue either as I can clearly see the locks just don't fully engage with the other original equipment. The door is essentially "closed" even when you fully engage the "open" sequence. No amount of stricker plate adjustments will cure that.
I'm glad WW at least offers something, but these are not up to the usual WW quality. |

I wanted to do a follow up to my earlier post about WW door latches. After replacing my WW aftermarket ('60-'64 door) latches and stricer plates on my '57 Oval with used German ones, my problems were fixed. I bought the WW aftermakrket latches several years ago. Well, this year (2020) I happened to acquire a new WW aftermarket ('60-'64) latch and I'm happy to report the quality is much better.
For clarity's sake, I should note that you can use the '60-'64 latches on late ovals if you change the stricker plate with the latch. Not sure about the early ovals.
Anyway, the photos below show the two aftermarket latches involving WW. They are both passenger right door "B" latches. The goldish one on the left was the first earlier aftermarket one that I felt was not up to WW quality. The silver one on the right is the 2020 one I recceived and it is much more like the original. It works like the original.
The problem with the earlier gold latch was the nub wouldn't fully recess into the latch assemly when the rod was depressd resulting on the door always sticking or appearing locked whan it was not. You can see the problem in the photo where the rod is depressed and the nub is not recessed. In the later replacement you can see that the silver one actually does fully recess when the rod is depressed making it work like it should.
I've also included a photo (albeit a dirty one) of a left side drivers '60-'64 door latch that is original German just for reference sake. These are marked "A".
Just wanted to be forthright in what I've found.
