Is there a breakdown anywhere that tells what each digit of the vin code represents? Any link would be helpful. thanks _________________ Please let my air cooled start just one more day God, I've gotta get to work! |

It's not that complicated. That said, I can only give you a partial answer.
Starting with:
183 = 181 built in 1973
184 = 181 built in 1974
The 4th digit:
I don't know.
Last 6 digits:
Serial number of vehicle |

Besides those two places there is also an original sticker on the inside door post between the front drivers and rear drivers side doors with the vin #. |
