I've had the speedster engine down to the short block over the last year to get more power in the heads... well, it is there (ithinkthistime) and as i was getting it all buttoned back up i got to looking at the current cooling set up. it has always been fine in the past, but because i'm no longer routing air from above the engine, i wanted to add some 'insurance'. so... tuesday, the new cooling set up should arrive. it will be a DTM shroud like Joe was actually going to build for me before he passed. http://www.aircooledtechnology.com/store/image.php?productid=16133
With some additional compartmental ducting and the DTM, i think i will again be able to do 500 mile runs in the heat of summer without feeling the need to watch gauges constantly. we will see...

a way overdue update on this set up... The DTM shroud was/is too narrow for the car and i've had to cut it up... alot! so, while i'm sorting all that out, the car has just sat and sat and sat... I just couldn't get motivated to do the final major cuts on the shroud, so i moped, pouted and procrastinated. NO MORE!!!

I put the old cooling set up back on it, added a 5" air vent to the tin to allow/force more air into the upper engine bay for the carbs to breath and the fan to blow and as soon as i re-sort the #4 barrel on one of the dells (sticky float), the car will come out of hibernation for the summer season! woot!!!! 1 step forward and 38 steps back will come to an end until next winter when i will finish modifying the DTM.

the 2332cc will scream back to life soon!

I learned a long time ago it's all about BALANCE. Enjoy what you can, when you can and concentrate/focus/obsess on only those things which are truly important.

it has been modified some already and will be modified more... the shroud was not wide enough for my 84x94 with 5.7 rods. so i've had to cut on it to get it ready and just haven't been motivated to do the final few cuts. so it is on my shelf.

okay... decided to replace both oil lines to and from the cooler. that second line should be hung tomorrow evening... then it is time to fire this puppy off! it's been 2 weeks short of two years since i last drove it. Embarassed that will be rectified this next weekend. i'll have to resynch the carbs since i had the linkage apart and it isn't exactly even now. but that's okay... at the outside it will only take an hour to redo it all. i sure hope i remember how to drive it!

nah... took 22 minutes Tram!

this carb set up and me are good friends. between my 3 sets and air_cooled_nut's set, i've done them a few times. I love the simplicity of the hex bar linkage. and if i'm finicky enough, it is a 'set it and forget it' set up. tonight, once the heat dissipates, i will change out and reroute the oil line. then it is buy some fuel and fire it off!

it runs!!!! but, now i have a fan rub that wasn't there before.... Rolling Eyes it's okay though... i think i have one more t1 shroud somewhere to try. oh, and never forget the little things folks! i had the distributor out awhile back to use as a test against someone else's and when i put this one back, i didn't seat it. doh! "i wonder why it won't fire? maybe i should check the spark!" double doh!!!

anyway, as soon as i dropped the dizzy back into the slot, it fired right off and settled in at a 700rpm idle with 70 psi cold idle oil pressure!
