First, I love the new box for the forum code on the pictures.
I'm wondering if anyone here has thought of adding commenting features to the gallery. I'd like to be able to comment on any picture, browse by most viewed, most favorites, most comments (etc) hopefully with the option of narrowing the hits to certain categories. Of course each comment would have a report button for the bad comments. |

I was thinking about this as well. It would be nice to leave a comment without having to start an entire thread about a photo.

The gallery does have the capability for commenting but I have it turned off as it seemed like a probably maintenance nightmare the first time something got out of hand.
The gallery also has a rating feature, which I also have turned off but I have considered turning that on and even rewrote it last month so it worked. Opinions?
I am highly skeptical on the commenting...

I vote for both, if it doesn't work out - turn em back off? I have often wanted to ask a question about a picture, but didn't want to start a whole thread.
would the comments need a moderator just to watch comments?

I always jsut PM the poster if i have a question or if i just want to compliment the car. I think the rating thing would be great.

I just tried the rating thing for the first time. I think it is a really great idea.

I think that this is a great idea. it would be awsome to browse by most favorites and other things. that would make it easier to find cool pictures. |

opinions:
what is the point of rating a pic, to see if someone thinks your pic is cool? yawn. i really don't see the point of rating a pic. do we win a prize if we have the highest amount of overall points at the end of the year? if you like someone's pic, send them an email and then save it in your "favorite photos" section of your control panel so you can find it again. it means a lot more to me when i receive a pm about a pic than seeing a little number next to it will.
NO on the comments. i can see that getting totally out of control and will clog up a lot of space in the gallery pages.

Some people will feel there is no point. You should not rate photos in that case.
The benefit would be the ability to see which photos are top rated, if desired.
