How much boost and what ignition are you running?

I wish these motors were mine, I am posting these for Joel Mohr, whom is currently making turbo kits for the 1600 and 1915. I can't answer any questions regarding configuration or performance. Hopefully Joel will be along shortly to answer your question.

Reposted pics from August and November????

Surely you can do better than that.... Rolling Eyes

Maybe explain the change to a different ignition and if that is included in the $1600 price tag.

Hey Joel,

With this kit work on a 1500cc Single Port? I am very interested in the kit. Do you sell individual parts? headers? carb setup? etc. Just in case I decide to use different turbo, etc. Any information is extremely valuable.

So after looking at your turbo kit pictures, I ask one question. I see that the turbo sits very low. I see that you have basically a 90 degree angle to a short hose to the oil pan. How does the oil get back in the pan. By looking at the pic it looks like the oil would just get backed up and go back into the turbo.

We've had no smoking or oiling issues...the Turbo is Carbon sealed...

same here. can the carbon sealing hold the oil back. so lets see long time tests if the turbo can handle it. normally it's way to low never saw a setup that low but saw setups that was also low and had problems after a time.

the kit itselfe looks very nice. well done specially the header. i like it.

wishes

My turbo knowledgeable friend said it would be best to put an inline oil pump on the return line to the oil pan to not have this issue. Most of the new corvette setups have the turbo very low and use these inline oil pumps to keep the oil from sitting since its parallel with the oil pan. I am still very interested in the kit, and can always make my own modifications to suit my safety concerns and longetivity concerns. Other than that your kit makes excellent power at an acceptable boost level.

Question do I build a 2 liter stroker motor for 5k and make maybe 120-140 tops or do I spend 1600 and make same amount and have a smirk on my face everything i hear that turbo spool. TURBO please.

We have 2 daily drivers running, and the oiling has NOT been an issue. The oil level is just below the shaft height, and the mistake some people make is having the return line too small.

Any plans to dyno this engine?

What would you estimate the HP and TQ to be?

I've toyed with putting the little thing on a local chassis dyno.
There are a couple very close by.
Maybe this spring/summer.

Plans for the near future include draining the tank, adding 110 octane and slowly adding timing but keeping the same boost.
I feel certain the motor will respond REAL well with more timing.

HP and TQ?
Whew. I'm just not sure.
HP maybe 120-130? At the flywheel, that is.
I've had some folks tell me it COULD be making 140-150 but I feel that's a stretch.
TQ? I have no idea but it feels REAL strong!
Not bad for a stock single port 1600. Wink

as far as torque= (hp x 5252)/RPM
so that means if you have 120-130 hp you would have 140-150 lbs/feet of torque at your rev limit.
