I'm considering dropping the '63 notch project, selling off all my cool type 3 accessories, and starting the search for a decent '71 Westy Poptop. My question for all you late bus folks is, how do you lower a late bus? Does anyone make dropped spindles for them, or do I have to use an adjustable beam? And, the rear: Do you just rotate the spring plates a notch like on Bugs, Type 3's, etc.? I'm only interested in lowering it about 3". I'd appreciate any help.

westy(lowercase)god,

i also have a bay and would like to lower mine as well, in all the searching i've done, the only option i've found is an adjustable lowered front beam, the only source i've found is bus boys....the link:

Thanks for the lowercase god. As you can see, ultimately I changed my name to westydemi-god because I have limited experience with westies - not yet one of the gods. I am learning, though. Someone pointed me in the direction of bus boys as well. Apparently, if you lower bus 3-4", you can still get a fairly decent ride, but if you go all the way to 6" it'll be rock hard. Also, did you check out those curved trailing arms that lower your rear end 3-1/2" or so without screwing with your camber? I'll be dealing with those guys. Thanks for the tip. "More lowered bays!" I say.
