I have a 68 bus that may have a shot transmission. I may have available, a transmission from a 70 Westy. Does anyone know if the 70 trans will go into the 68 bus? Somewhere I read that something was different and that they would not mate. Thanks for any help.

Yes the 70 will fit into the 68 they are basically the same, 71 had a different throw out bearing style, other changes also in later year models....

Even though the '68 tranny has some unique characteristics, the '69 and '70 will swap just fine. As one on the other' mentioned, the '71 will also work, if you switch your clutch release bearing to a '71 style for the tranny sleeve.

Most of the mechanic parts are changing starting on the 71 buses. Before that, it's practically the same. I have a 69 and most of the parts I have to buy fit on buses from 67 to 70 or so.... I think you're ok.
