I have never seen it before. I bet its some sort of aftermarket conversion.Probably similar to a westy or CHC. Not a bad price. But who would want it. The seat layout is totally non functional. _________________ 95 GMC Yukon 6.5 TD 2 Door Tow pig/ Daily driver.

I think the seating is fine.. epsecially for kids and young adults.
A family of six and a dog?
For grown-ups, the knee room might be a bit tight, though.
The table is handy for games/snacks while underway.
Looks like two jump seats installed.. or two front seats modified for the rear facing.
If those two rear facing seats are easily removed for hauling room and if the rear seats can be removed for a camping bed.. you've got a very versatile van for not much money.
I've been runnig ideas for installing two front seats in the rear of my Westie. The bench seat is pretty uncomfortsable for more than a 45 min drive.
Trying to come up with an idea that would make them easily removed and still keep the camping bed.
Still..
thoroughly examine for all the typical vanagon issues. $1000 is a song... but not if it needs a new motor, transmission, brakes |

That's actually a real VW model. The Caravelle Carat was the top of the line Vanagon in Germany. It had six individual bucket seats and a raised floor in the center area. A lot of them were used as mobile executive offices. Others were used for airport limos.
Cool find. That's only the second one I know of in the US.

I agree, apparently the middle seats swivel also. Opposing seating is great for functionality...just ask anyone with a carat/wolfy or weekender or multivan. No bed in the back, but its a mobile shelter with table...nothing wrong with sleeping in a tent. Euro Vanagons are much more customized...see RevKevs or KevRevs? It does have jail bars though. Probably for hauling luggage from the airport. Its a cool van dont get me wring but I like my bed. It would make a nice second van. _________________ 95 GMC Yukon 6.5 TD 2 Door Tow pig/ Daily driver.

Provocyclist-get it dude, no it's not a camper but a super cool cruiser. That is the Van I would slam on it's nizuts with some 18" boxer wheels, SVX motor and solid paint job.
I think it could be really shweeet. _________________ 1987 Wolfsburg T25 still riding out. A bunch of other VW's passed on... |

Yeah, definitely if you're local you should grab it. That model has all kinds of other little special features I didn't mention. It even has molded plastic covers around the side windows rather than the glued on upholstery material that keeps crinkling up on all our vans.

Yeah, the steering wheel is very cool. And 'no rust' sounds even better. I wonder if the motor/FI is different or if it has a cat? German instrumentation and labels would be really cool too. _________________ 84 Westy 4spd sold |

That is very cool... you gonna drive down to St. George and check it out? If I could figure out a way to justify it I'd have a look at it. In fact, if I could afford more time for VWs as a hobby again I'd say let's hook up in Provo and road trip down just to see it.
I don't care for the auto trans (at least not as my only van) and it sounds like it's the jump seats that swivel... I'm not sure why I'd want that. The price is killer, though, and it's certainly a one-of-a-kind gem... at least in the states! _________________ 1988 Wolfsburg Edition, 2001 Subaru EJ251 |

Hmmmmm . . .
I don't like the seats. One of my favorite things about the vanagon is the big bench seat that folds into a bed.
I like a manual gearbox, too. _________________ 1990 GL 7-passenger

The back seats are actually borrowed out of an 84-91 Audi 100. They are fully reclining and have power adjustment. I've always thought it funny that VW would do such an expensive and plush van and then put seats in where the headrests don't quite match the other seats.
I hear what several people have said about the missing weekender seat. Still, for someone looking for a one of a kind and future collectible van, this is a neat find.

After thinking about it I'm sure the jump seats, if they're the ones that swivel, turn around and leave some foot space so all the passengers can face forward. I'm sure that was obvious to most, but with how tight the jump seats are to the front seats in my Wolfsburg it wasn't being obvious to me. It would be a fun toy... pretty unique for this side of the pond. _________________ 1988 Wolfsburg Edition, 2001 Subaru EJ251 |

A while back there was a Caravelle with an Oettinger 6 cylinder tucked out back for sale in the classifieds. The downside was it was in Germany and it seems like the asking price was around 23,000 USD. Who knows you may get lucky and find an Oettinger in this van! _________________ 89 Westy zetec

Very comfy van. Cruise control, ABS, A/C, Eberspacher etc, etc.
Here's mine prior to me importing it to Ireland:
I've slept on the rear seats a couple of times, otherwise I pull a Puck |
