Hi everyone I am just getting finished with my super beetle. When I bought the car nothing worked and the wiring was completely screwed. My question is can someone tell me what the switches and knobs on the dash are? I know the head lights, and hazards but nothing else. Also my turn signals are not working and the relay is in the wrong place from it being wired so many times. If anyone could help me figure out what the dash items are it would be greatly appreciated. Also any suggestions on the turn signals would be awesome. Thanks alot! |

Take a photo and post and or describe what location you are looking at.
Left of the ashtray or right of the radio....
Some knobs could be vent knobs, some rear defrost, etc. _________________ 1971 VW Beetle Vert "Hannah Montana" 2008

Currently I am at school and will not be home until this weekend so I cannot Take a picture. The knobs are to the left of the ashtray and there is also two switches above the knobs that I don't know what they do. The car is a 73 Super beetle with a curved windshield. |

If you go to the technical section you can actually look up your 73 Manual and download the photo's. I found this section from the maual and posted it for you. It shows numbers and what is what.

See this is the problem that is not my dash. The car was so screwed up the motor is from a 69-70 beetle and the dash looks nothing like that and I only have small holes in the upper corners of the dash for the air vents. Thanks for the imfo on the technical section I will check there and see if i can find something similar to mine. |

Thank you very much that is my dash. Does anyone have any clue as to why my turn signals are not working? I have all the wires grounded that need to be grounded but i have a feeling one is missing somewhere because the hazards blink extremely fast. |

Also I have the switch for the auxillary heater. Does anyone have any clue where it is located or what it actually is?
Thanks again for all of your help |

Do all your lights blink when you use the hazard switch? If so, your lights are ok. Fast blinking usually means that a bulb is dead.
What you need to fix your problem with the blinkers is 1) A test lamp, 2) The wiring diagram for your car, 3) Systematic thinking, and 4) Time |

That's a gas heater. It is placed on the left side of the car, inside the luggage compartment. It burnds gasoline, and has a fan that blows hot air into the car. Round and black. |

Well according to my manuals the wiring in my car is totally screwed I am at home now and I am lost this thing has been messed with by so many people. supposedly the hazards and turnsignals are on the same flasher while my car has 2, which i think is wrong and someone just stuck it in there. Also I only have 3 relays total. I am totally lost. As to the auxillary heater, that is definately gone. Like I said the car has been messed with so many times I do not see it. Does anyone have a picture of the auxillary heater? |

Not that I am a wiring genius but, make sure to check the all the grounds. I believe that all the turn signals have their own ground so check that they have good contact. _________________ 0 to 60 in a neck snapping 4.6 MILES!
