Hi All
I have a '74 Westfalia with a stock 1800cc type 4 pancake motor. And its blowing oil out of these two ports holes near the intake manifold, one on each side. The holes actually seem to be a hose fittings on the head under the intake manifold. I think this is some sort of breather hose connector, or smog emissions.
The bus is missing something to catch the oil and exhaust gases that come spewing out of the holes, and its covering the engine. A friend of mine put a foot and a half of rubber hose on the holes and draped the end of the hose off the sides. But it still spews oil everywhere!!
The engine is no longer dual carbed, and the emissions stuff has been altered.
What am I missing? Do I need to connect the hoses to a breather box?
Thanks for any replies! |

Yeah, I was told that the hoses should connect to the stock air cleaner on the carb. But since my carbs have been replaced and I no longer have the stock air cleaner I cant connect them to the carb. So what I did was take the hoses and put them in a plastic 2 liter bottle, that way the bottle catches the oil that comes spitting out. I still get the exhaust smell, but I'm not buring as much oil.
Thanks
