Just learn how to work on them yourself its pretty simple, and you'll save yourself a small fortune. |

Get the how to keep your volkswagen alive book by john muir, and a bentley shop manual if you decide to teach yourself how to do it. It is pretty satisfying when you get your van fixed on your own (if you have the time, that is). |

Cheez, I too was transplanted in Boston for 4yrs. (Brookline) from Newport Ca. Talk about another planet! I got ahold of the SOTO guys who hooked me up w/ a guy in Marbelhead. This was in the 80s.I'd still try the Society of Transporter Owners or local clubs in the Boston area.DavidK 71Deluxe69S/CAB |

check out type2.com and hit the link to the aircooled rescue service. Lots of friendly folks in your area to help a busted bus on the highway, they might be able to point you to a shop. You really shouldn't need a Genuine VW mechanic for this. Just a goombah with a set of wrenches and a welder to remove the crossmember, jack the engine up to hold it and not rip up the front trans mount and weld the break. How did that break, anyway??!! |
