Joey didn't change the driveshaft. Jack did many improvements on the van and his level of work is higher than most but I don't think that he modded the driveshaft.

Good too know.

GW uses the term "commercial" in the description....this leads me to believe that we...including the Canadians wouldn't see any.
The panel syncros have a few commercial features that were very few in numbers....one being the rubber matting that extends from the cabin all the way to the rear threshold and was insulated.
I collect the rubber mats and the "commercial" ones are unique.

What I also like the sounds of in the GW description is the sprayed dampening on the inner portion of the driveshaft.

Without the donut.....does that mean no internal bushing as well?

there will be a rubber dampener on one end of the center driveshaft...we call it the donut...the flange bolts to it and the donut bolts to the shaft.

I'll crawl under it and snap a pic tomorrow, mine is much different than the one in that picture.

It was owned by a hardcore syncro guy in Navada(has lots of common mods/upgrades that we talk about here) everytime I messwith it I find something that i've done to one of my other vans to improve or repair.

most likely yours is a BMW donut....a direct replacement for the VW version.

i can verify after seeing the pic.

More specifically, that is one of the first AA driveshafts that was available from group buys on the syncro list years ago.

I have a few of them.
Only one has needed a rebuild...it had over 150k miles on it.

my syncro is a Military built Doka (with nato style aluminum canopy). no idea if the shaft is stock but i assume it is. its also a non-locker

Thank you.
I can say I have seen the white elephant.

Most importantly...how does it feel through the full rpm range?
Any vibrations?
How about a chlang or ding noise...ever?

I did have some vibrations at low speed when I bought the truck. around 20-35mph.
I took the shaft out and one end was a little stiff but after playing with it for a bit Cool it loosened up. still had the vibe, front axels and cv were brand new. I replaced all 4 rear CVS and it went away Smile

never any clinks or dings.

I have heard or read somewhere that play in the rear cv can create a vibe when the shaft is in place, and not when its removed. making people think its the shaft
