|
|
I have a pristine upper dashpad, from a 1970 Bay, and am interested in reproducing them. Before I do so, I am curious if there are a lot of people out there who would be interested in this item. If I know there is enough feedback provided that can justify the expense, then I will start. I am unsure what all years a 1970 pad will fit, so any feedback is appreciated. And yes, I have a need for a nice dashpad _________________ West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette, 319 U.S. 624 (1943) |

I've owned 4 baywindow buses in my lifetime, in various stages of deterioration, and all of them had good dashpads. _________________ OGST

My '71 dash pad is cracked and filled with RTV Sealant. So, I'd possibly be interested. Seems I saw one for sale somewhere, but must not have bookmarked the site - perhaps overseas. |

Target market Arizona..there's a whole small industry making custom carpet- like dash pads to prevent that cracking. Out here, the buses don't rust, but all the rubber and plastic decomposes to dust. Along with ALL new door and windor seals, I'm gonna need one, or I'll do some creative marlinspike for the passenger side oh-sh*t handle. (I'd probably look for one on a parts bus somewhere first though.) this should turn up a salt or two..... _________________ 1984 CABRIOLET 6spd, quaife diff, Neuspeed springs, sway bars, tie bar, short shift kit, bilstein shocks, 16X7 RSE 3pc wheels, BFG TA 205 40s

you should post that message on forums in other parts of the world as well. Brazil, Mexico etc.
I assume you would be using the internet to market it so think globally and you may find your market. |

Talk to anyone in hot climates. Compared to most early 70's vehciles Bay dashpads held up pretty well. |

I'm going for it. Interestingly, mine was a Arizona car for many years. So, I know what the sun can do to these things. _________________ Add life to your years, instead of years to your life. |

AZ is known for big cracks. The Grand Canyon and VW dashes. Bug, bus, top pad, face, or whatever, they pretty much bite the dust. Or rather, have bitten the dust. Although that price is pretty expensive. _________________ 71 Superbug

they are not recovered, they are totally new with an original vw reinforcement. there is plenty of labor and cost involved though, so hence the price.....this is probably what has kept many companies from offering this. _________________ once you realize im not impressed we will get along just fine |

That is a great idea! Now, it could be done in some fine manila line, or maybe a smooth white nylon, which would feel nice and look sharp.
There's the old salt in me coming out... I spent five years in the research fleet. _________________ John
