I am assembling a '72 1.7l engine that I did not take apart. I have some sheet-metal, but I'm not even sure if I have it all or even if some of the pieces are for my engine. My question is, where could I find an illustration of these pieces so I can put this puzzle together. I am installing this engine in a '76 bus - are there any complications that may arise with this swap?

got to this site and click on the air cooling systems. I believe there are some very minor differences with tins on 1.7 to 1.8 to 2.0 due to carbs vs F.I. location of fuel pump etc. but if the motor was complete and you got all the parts you shold have no problems with the swap.

also look at ratwells site for engine swap notes
