i've had pretty good luck with dual carburetors in the past, but I am getting pretty sick of syncronizing them all the time. I've been looking into the Weber progressive carburetor lately. I understand that it has a bit more power than a single carb, but not as much as dual carburetors. does anyone have anymore information or advice about the progressive carburetor?
thanks a lot
Meredith

Which engine are you considering it for? Upright or type 4?

I have one on my 78 2L and it works OK. It is the coldest natured thing I have ever seen! If I had the cash, I would pop in a dual set-up (something kinda mild-not huge monsters)!

Go for it... that's the carb you want if you want a bit more power and don't want to be fiddling with the dual carb set-up all the time... Make sure you get the "hole shot" style manifold and not the open plenum style... make sure the heat riser tubes are functional.... don't set the choke too tight and give it a bit of extra warm up time.....
If you have a bone stock engine (no mild cam) then you can expect about the same gas milage if you keep your foot out of it. but when you want to get on the freeway or pass someone you should feel an improvement over stock carb, but not as much as with dual kads.... The progressive works better with a 1 step up mild cam....but it is not absoulutely neccesary... good luck
