There is a higher quality version located here on Divshare that you can download. I'd embed but thesamba doesn't support the needed html embedding code. It will probably play slowly due to its size, but you can download the entire file to watch.

Yeah, I have to completely rebuild that fuel pump. I think a one way valve is leaking a bit. It's all the way full when I 1st start it in the mornings ,but, as I drive it the glass fills with air, not really sure why?!?!

Maybe the pump can't keep up with 3 float bowls

Just a thought??

You can get a higher quality on the YouTube videos, just add &fmt=18 to the end of the YouTube URL.
Example: http://youtube.com/watch?v=qVJer-4KbMs&fmt=18

The car should still be using the same 'amount' of fuel. 1 bowl or 3. I just checked my stock fuel pump yesterday. It filled a coffee cup in 15 seconds.

I was just offering a suggestion.
Maybe a stock worn pump isn't pumping as much fuel...

The more bowls, the more fuel.

Not once they're full. The engine will only 'use' a certain amount. With three bowls, each one is putting out a little less. Either that or he's running really rich.

I'm not too sure about that.
You have to change the air/fuel ratio to get a richer condition, not necessarily the cfm. For example, if you run a single 44 Weber on a 1915cc motor and you then run dual 44's, it does not mean you are running in a rich condition now. More fuel can be burned with two carbs so you will have more power.

An engine is an air pump. It will only pass so much air. And 11-12:1 fuel ratio. Period. He's still got plenty of pump.

I agree it has plenty of "pump". There are many larger motors running stock pumps with 48ida's. That wasn't my point.

Your previous statement concerning it running rich was incorrect. Wink

You insinuated he was burning three times the fuel. He would need to be passing 36 times the air through in order not to be running rich. Sorry, I thought that was what you meant. Once the 3 bowls are full, he's probably only using slightly more fuel.

Agreed. Hopefully maybe even less fuel if the efficiency is there.
