squareonair or anyone who has airride on their T3, I'm trying to see how other people have their front setup as far as the how you disabled the torsion bars. I assume you have ground off the splines so the opposite end of the torsion bar can spin Freely, but how did you lock it in place so the it can turn up and down but no slide out the other side. |
i used a hardin metric head bolt so it has threades on both sides...and i red loctite it in place and double nutted it.....you have to double nut it....i didnt and it will come out on you if you dont.....i learnt the hard way thinking red loctite was good enuff.......but since i double nutted it no problems.....and yes the inside splines are all ground off to spin freely
you can see the double nuts here

Right on! Thanks for replying so quick. I was thinking of drilling a hole in the bolt and sticking a cotter pin through it? What do you think? That pluss the double nut? I wanna be safe too. _________________ ____________________________________________________

So I see a common tread with these builds... No shocks! How is the bounce with these? I remember in my younger years not running shocks up front with just twisted front and it was fine until one day I have to stop quick and I got horrible wheel hop and almost hit someone. |

cotter pin at the end after the double nuts would be a good caution perpus(sp)....anything to keep it from comming out on you.......if not you will look like this.....

with the bags you can reg. the presure on how soft or how stiff you want the ride to be.....so they act as a shock in away......but the ride is so much better......has pleanty of controll depending on the ammount of air you have in the bag.... _________________

But regulating the air will also alter the ride height.
Air bags are more like an air spring than an air shock. I found the ride to be fine on the car I rode in. The rear has more weight so it tended to bounce more and, in my opinion, would be the end in more need of a shock absorber than the front. _________________ Toby http://www.aircoolednut.com/

I noted this as well as I spotted a video of a bag'd square and it had quite a bit on bounce going on!
Thanks for all the tips. Looking to get back into T3's after about a 15 year hiatus and I looking to lay pan on my return! |

well for something to be the lowest i believe it calls for a tube chassis, body drop or taking the pan halves out and making them flat (which is what im doing on my t34. that is what kept me from laying rocker.
i know everybodys seen it, but im interested as well on this now battle for the lowest!!!

Especially for insects. That thing could knock an ant's hat off!

Keep it to one thread to make it easier to consolidate the data.
