"Charlie's Angels" TV show (1979) season 4, episode 8 named "The Prince and the Angel". Former Angel Jill Munroe (Farrah Fawcett) is being courted by a wealthy prince of a small European country (Leonard Mann) and takes her to a good restaurant. He offers to drive Jill home but does not have a car because during his visit to the USA he's usually driven by his country's bodyguards. The prince sees a high-end used car lot across the street and buys the orange Auburn Speedster (replica) on the spot. There's a yellow late Bay camper in the distance. The other cars in the front row are white Ford Pantera, orange 1966 Bizzarrini 5300 GT America Shocked Very Happy , and silver Jaguar XKE 2+2 Coupe.

"Adam-12" TV show has TWO Bay windows parked across the street from the pizza shop where the Ofcs Malloy and Reed are questioning a witness. "Roll call" S7E4, 1974.

"Brannigan" (1975) movie filmed mostly in London, England. Chicago Police Lieutenant Jim Brannigan (John Wayne) is sent to the U.K. to escort organized crime boss Ben Larkin back to the U.S., but Larkin's hitmen prepare an ambush for Brannigan. His London-based police driver is Jennifer (Judy Geeson, familiar as one of the students in "To Sir with Love"). Many VWs are in the background. Brannigan commandeers a yellow Ford Capri Mk2 to follow a thug in his Jaguar S-Type sedan. They pass a white '71/'72 Bay window Bus as the Jag turns a sharp corner during the chase.

I believe the '71/'72 just above is a '72. Note the slightly flared body at the bottom edge of the wheel arch - first introduced in model year '72. "Slight", as compared to the rear wheel arch, which is just a little bit more pronounced.
Esthetically a nice upgrade IMHO, likely adding a bit more rigidity there, as well as negligible degradation to aerodynamics below MACH I.
I imagine the German engineers already confirmed that way back in 1971.

I never noticed that detail before, and checked the Archives as to Press Photos and Brochures (not indicative), and the Gallery. Photos of original '71 and '72 confirmed the difference with the arch on '72's. Thanks for pointing that out.

Charles Bronson (playing Arizona Police Lieutenant Charlie Congers) is approached by the FBI to go to Switzerland and protect the girlfriend (played by Bronson's real-life wife Jill Ireland) of a US mob boss. They are in a red Peugeot 504 sedan, in line at the right ahead of the Beetle (arrow) to board the auto transport train in the village of Kandersteg, Switzerland which passes thru the Bernese Alps.

Dark blue late Bay Window camper, British TV "Midsomer Murders" season 16 episode 1, 2013. Main actor Detective Chief Inspector (DCI) John Barnaby (Neil Dudgeon) arrives at a murder scene; the Bay is parked in the driveway, then in the village. IMDB lists the shop location as Great Milton, Oxfordshire, England.

Movie "The Seven-Ups" (1973) filmed in New York City, with police detective Buddy (Roy Scheider) investigating who killed his partner. Chase sequence is superb, from which I took most of these screen shots. Many VWs being passed, or parked. Buddy chases the antagonists in his grey 1973 Pontiac Ventura (brand version of Chevy Nova) who are driving a "midnight blue"/ black 1973 Pontiac Grand Ville 4-door sedan. Baddies are Bo and Moon (played by actual stunt driver Bill Hickman who also drove the black Dodge Charger in the "Bullitt" car chase; and Richard Lynch). IMO Buddy's engine sound has been partially dubbed in from Bullitt's Mustang from that movie's car chase, complete with engine shifting pauses despite the Ventura being an automatic (!?).

Beige/white early Bay Window Deluxe parked along 10th Avenue, which is a northbound street.

TWO parked red Deluxe Bays Very Happy as Bo turns northbound onto Riverside Drive which is on the west side of Manhattan. The crudely painted red Opel Kadett parked at left is about to have its driver's door torn off by Bo's Pontiac.

Beige/white Bay Window Deluxe parked on NB side of Riverside Drive. 3 Beetles in same shot. There appears to be a yellow/white Type 2 (prob. another Bay Window) parked that's visible in background of the city bus, but I could not get a screen shot of it.

Yet another beige/white early Bay Window Deluxe, parked on NB side of Riverside Drive.

Elsewhere in the movie, Bo and Moon hassle a character in the city. Yellow/white ~'71 Deluxe Bay Window in background.

1971 movie "The French Connection" filmed in New York City, Washington, DC; and Marseille, France. Near the middle of the movie, the French drug magnate Alain Charnier (Fernando Rey) briefly travels to Washington, DC from New York City and stops at the National Mall. An L610 Delta Green Deluxe Bay is directly behind him. EverettB has an almost identical shot in his gallery, but I made some color adjustments to mine. The left side of the Washington Monument is in the right background.
