Movie "Freebie and the Bean" (1974) filmed in San Francisco, California. Police detectives Freebie (actor James Caan, driving) and Bean (Alan Arkin) are in a white 1972 Ford Custom 500, chasing a blue Plymouth. Many VWs are either passed, or parked in background such as these two Deluxe Bays.

In the movie "Crocodile Dundee" (1986) segment where Mick Dundee (Paul Hogan) walks out of the New York City bar with his new taxi friend and encounters Simone and Karla, there is a blue '73+ Bay window in the right background. Wider rear wheels?

IMDB lists the location as 108 Avenue B, East Village, Manhattan which is across the street from Tompkins Square Park.

OOOOH I'd like the rims on that Expendables 2 Bus... MMMMM I wonder what they came off of or who made them. They almost look like Corrado BBSs, but I'm pretty sue those were not the right lug diameter.

And a 72 Westy in the Jason Mamoa movie Sweet Girl, stolen by a baddy off a used car lot. When was the last time you saw a Beetle and a Bay on a car lot??

Non exactly a movie, but I saw this in show about a serial killer who murdered a bunch of young women in Florida back in the 80’s. This is a police photo of his car with a Westy in the background.

A few Bay windows parked in background of the movie "The Great Texas Dynamite Chase" (1976), many segments filmed in the Santa Clarita Valley and in Moorpark, California.

TV coverage of the Barrett-Jackson Auction, Houston Texas; Day 2 of the 3-day auction. Lot 483 is an attractive 1973 custom Bay window "Westfalia", though with no indication of any Westy camper equipment. Announcers mentioned 17" Fuchs-style rims, lowered suspension, wrap-around rear seats, deleted front VW emblem, and 1800 cc engine "with dual Webers". Likely 34 ICT single-throats. It sold for $46,000 to a 50-ish man.

That guy got ripped off. Probably full of body filler. I guess he has plenty of money to waste.

Is that a remake of the German show? That one was excellent! I will have to look for it. Which BBC channel is it on?

Yes, it wasn't until I was paying attention to the credits of one last week, it says "Based on Der Tatortreiniger". I'll give that a look when I've finished them all.

It's on BBC One here in the UK, not sure how you can see it in the US.

There seems to be a couple of pickups in use, as in one episode, he was using a single cab that has quite identifiable markings. It was up for auction a few weeks ago :

British TV show "Auto Masters" on National Geographic Channel. Tim and Fuzz undertake thorough restorations for deserving "hardship" customers. In season 1, episode 9 from 2020 the team redoes a 1964 Porsche 356 C Coupe. Paul, the "largest 356 parts specialist in England" has a modified bay window pickup.
