^ ^ 2 more shots from this movie in my gallery; the two you posted are very similar to those I also caught.
IMDB lists the location as 5th Street, Flower, and Figueroa Street, downtown Los Angeles, California. |

This is 9:20 into the film Dirty Harry. This, and most any film from the 70's has too many A/C VWs to count. Another Favorite film to see Cool VWs is Willy Wonka, starring Gene Wilder.

1969 movie "Winning"- race car driver Frank Capua (Paul Newman) drives his Ford Galaxy 500 XL past a parked ivory Deluxe. IMDB does not list the filming location, but it reminds me of Santa Monica, California.
2 Bay window campers parked in background of movie "Car Wash" (1976)- filmed at the "Dee-Lux" (Robert Taylor's) Car Wash - 610 South Rampart Boulevard at West 6th Street - Los Angeles, California.

1983 movie "Octopussy" with Roger Moore as James Bond. Many VWs are seen in the background, since many parts of the movie are taking place in Germany. In reality, the US army base in the German (fictitious) town of Feldstadt was actually filmed in England.
'73+ Red/ivory late Bay at the Feldstadt base.
Blue '73 Bay van parked seen behind Bond and M (Robert Brown) is on the Kurfuerstendamm (aka Ku'damm) in West Berlin. I listed the white Vanagon at right in the Vanagon "movies" thread.
The red with black band early Bay is in "Karl Marx Stadt" of East Germany, avoiding Bond who is escaping in the black Mercedes-Benz 250 SE that's up on 2 wheels. Kommercial has a similar shot in his gallery. |

Many Bay Windows in the movie "Gone in 60 Seconds" (1974); a few others have already been mentioned/shown. Most of these are from the exciting and really crazy car chase at the end. Filmed around the cities of Torrance, Long Beach, Carson in the Los Angeles, California area.
The battered yellow Mustang fastback "Eleanor" is speeding down the street, passing a parked Deluxe Bay:
The Mustang finally turns into this car wash at the end of the chase, and a Bay drives past in the opposite direction:
Much earlier in the movie, the heist team buys a wrecked/totalled Dodge Challenger at a wrecking yard auction. This red camper is an auction attendant.
Having to tow the "resurrected" Challenger from a car dealer, the dealer's security cop blocks the main character (in disguise). At the VW dealer across the street, there are numerous VWs including some high-top campers. This segment is a also used in a flashback in "The Junkman". The Aero Volkswagen dealer is in Inglewood, California just east of LAX airport.

'70 Camper in "Deadline Auto Theft" (1983). The camper passes by the red Bricklin that was just stolen from the Queen Mary parking lot in Long Beach, California; and avoids the Cutlass and the Chevy ambulance chasing it. |

Dogs of War, 1980 movie. Christopher Walken posing as a naturalist conducts a recce in an African Country of Zangaro. He is offered a ride by a Catholic Priest in a Bay Window (not sure about the year, could be a 75). Sorry, unable to post pictures, on the road and don't have access to my DVD. Has exterior and interior of the bus. |

^ ^ This same commercial popped up this afternoon while I was watching a documentary on YouTube. It's from turo.com, the car-sharing company. Their current home page has the same Westy, seen from the front. |

La Brea S1 Ep3: Topanga.
This is either a second bus or the lighting made it look green.

It was cool to see Richard Williams driving (I think) a 74 deluxe in "King Richard" which is on HBO Max now. —Really making use of the 7 seater capacity with the 5 girls in back and his wife. Googling for a shot I found this comparison to the real bus he owned. They talk about the attention to detail, but the real life being a jersey looker, I am like "nah". The bus in the movie was really nice actually
Possibly to get the interior shots brightness a certain way, they have taped something to the windows?

Early Bay Window Kombi or Deluxe in the TV documentary "The Joy of ABBA" (2013), about the Sweden-based pop group. Narrator was mentioning the labor riots in Stockholm in 1970.
YouTube video of late Oct. 2021 from "Vice Grip Garage" has host Derek Bieri going to a "private honey hole junkyard" in Utah. Numerous VWs seen, including the blue/white early Bay. |
