Hey all,
Ok, tax refund on the way, so it's time to show the Westy some love. Where can I purchase a new speedometer and clock for my 77? Is it possible?
Thanks!

The $50 price for a clock is not typical I think. Especially for the black faced 73-79 clocks. Maybe $50 for a non-working model, but I have seen $75-$100. |

Pay a little more and make damn sure the clock keeps decent time. Repairing one is not something for the do-it-yourselfer.
Take part of your tax money and buy one of those cupholders a guy is selling here on TheSamba. Slides in where your ashtray goes. I just got mine and it is so cool I just want to sit and stare at it. |

Actually I had already solved the cup holder problem before I saw those. I bought the folding Vanagon cupholders and screwed them into the front of the little seat/garbage can.
Does anyone sell NEW guages? I saw that VDO has white faced guages, but they're not the right size.

The only new gauges you will find will not match the stock ones. The sizes in a Bay are "standard" and, with an adaptor so they can mount from behind, you should be able to fit new VDO gauges in there. What has kept me from doing this is how to make up the idiot lights in the lefthand gauge.
As for the cup holder issue I bought a nice console that goes between the front seats. Has two cup holders, storage areas, and closing lids. Very useful and covered in vinyl.
I paid $100 for my Bay clock. While perhaps on the expensive side it has always worked perfectly and I've never had a problem. If you find a clock do yourself a favor and install a 1.5 or 2 amp inline fuse so that you don't have to repair your clock if it gets a surge. |

I guess I'll go the "find a good working used one" route. It makes more sense than fiddling around with something that isn't supposed to be in there.
Is there a site/store that sells parts to rebuild/repair a speedometer? Mine works fine, but the little plastic gear for the odometer is broken.
Thanks!

68-79 gauges will fit no problem, but if you have a 73-79 Bus, only 73-79 gauges will have the correct "look." |

Help:
My 72 T2 has a gas gauge with a bad attitude! It has three working positions. #1. The gauge works fine. #2. The gauge reads a little low and moves in sync with the blinkers. #3. Nothing. I am looking for a cure and hope it is not the sender as I do not want to remove the engine or cut a hole under the rear seat.
