much in vw fashion there are some of both vw would use all parts until they ran out some most 71 are above the bumper I have carved up two 72's that had the lights down low so it is realy more by vin number than anything else both 72's had the big rear tail lights but I have also seen some late 71's with the big tail lights too check a catalog for the vin cut off also the repair nose panels also require moving the lights to the air grill I think august of 72 was the actual change date so you will see a little bit of both vw is still notorious for titling vehicles when they are ordered as late as the 95 corrado which production ended in march of 94 I have a 74 Ghia with a mfg date of 2/72 so that is what I am told the cause of that is hope this helped

Most of the 68-72 that I have ever seen had the lights down low at least the two I own are like that , my 73 has the high lights.
That dorm must have a newer front end on it.
Unless you can get a good one from a recked one, they just aren't made anymore. But I wouldn't mind owning that dorm, just to far from Pa to get it !!!
