Only minor differences. I'd say if choosing between multiple cars, the one with the least rust . . . |

So true Cap'n, also, I think you should buy a new fully functional keyboard before you get a Thing, yours is apparently broken... _________________ '73 Thing

Both are great. '74 has a bit better engine cooling capability with the side vent "ear muffs". If you need and want a better winter car, then go for the '73 which has the gas heater. |

I've been lucky enough to own both, at different times in my life.
20 years ago, while living in Vermont, my '74 was warm, capable, and worthy of good memories.
Fast forward to today, and my '73, though battered, is worthy enough to be restored to stock.
Given the blip in time that both emerged in the auto herd, they're both special, no question. _________________ '85 Vanagon Westfalia |

Kind of a Chevy or Ford question really. Just personal preference. Cap'n makes the best point, IF you have to chose between 2, go with the least rust. If you just want to narrow your search to a fav year, decide which items from each are more to you liking. Though I have owned both, my personal preference is for my Euro 181 that was a german railroad car. Wish I'd never sold it. Damn. |
