What good is this:
Yes that's JB Weld curing on it. Closer:
As you can see, the stupid little crossover pipe popped off sometime during the transmission replacement, not sure how as the engine stayed in. If the JBW doesn't hold what function would be lost in plugging it? (While waiting for a genuine German replacment, of course ) _________________ Scott

Or you could just but a new one.
Yeah its sucks to spend money on something that seems trivial, but it sucks alot more to spend money rebuilding your motor.
I cant tell you exactly what it does, but a good start to figuring that out would be to follow all the hoses to where they terminate. In order for VW to have bothered making such a complex junction they must have felt that it was necessary. Don't just block it off. Fix it right. _________________ 89 Bluestar-2.5 Subaru Powered-RIP

In case some of you aren't familier with this set-up, its the 1.9l junction of the two big hoses (to/from radiator), the auto tranny cooling lines (coming off the front/bottom) the purge valve (on top) and crossover (small pipe on bottom). I'm obviously not thinking of blocking the mainlines, but just the little cossover pipe to the metal line on top of the engine. It can't be big enough to do any actual cooling, I can't see any function beyond pressure equalization.
Here's the BusDepot replacement:
A beautiful piece of work, and only $174.95. _________________ Scott
