I recently purchased a 71 bus. It is time to change the air filter, but I am having a problem changing it. The air cleaner will not open up. It appears to be stuck. I am not sure how to get it open any sugestions?

Thanks all,
Daniel

I have released the clamps. The two halfs are stuck. Any clue how to get them apart?

Try pulling and twist alittle at the same time first, then try a small screw driver and gently pry between the two. It will come loose.

I would also try gently banging them with a rubber mallet to break the crud between the two pieces.

(...without going outside to look at my bus)
isn't there a *third* clip that is in front of the air cleaner (that you can't see)?

I doubt that there is enough grunge to keep it from opening. Never had that with any of *my* busses, but one never knows...

Yeah, that clip behind the filter housing, (towards the front of the bus) had me scratching my head once. If you don't have it, invest in the Bentley manual - it's worth every penny.
