How well does that vinyl paint hold up? Does it scratch easy? Did you only paint the vinyl or did you paint the plastic too? _________________ 77 westy 2.0 FI

Uhh remember the paint that flaked off on me and was repaired in a rainstorm at secretsebmariner's house in Oklahoma, circa 2016?
It's back… Probably should have waited until it stopped raining to treat and paint, oh well.
Ground off the bubbles at 10am, treated with formic acid spray, painted at 4pm, and called it quits to give the paint time to cure overnight.
Should get me another five years, which is right around when I'll strip the car to paint it a better shade of orange

after sitting too long...new carbs, fuel tank and pump, lines, filter....just for fun new mirrors, turn signals, reflectors and I'm working on all the parts to rebuild the rear brakes. Can't seem to pin down backing plates. I'm sure it's me. _________________ Once, when you were in love, you bought one ring. I have bought my bus three SETS! |

Finally found a decent size/texture/thickness mat at Tractor supply for the rear luggage cargo area.

Finally pulled it out of the garage. It's the end of Winter slumber, and Spring has sprung!
Let it warm up, and drove it up and down the street.
I did pull it back in the garage for now but it'll be out full time soon.
It's a good day.

I spliced a power supply lead to an amplifier, still waiting on RCA's and will run them, the remote and main power, and speakers to the headunit at one time. I've got a switch, thinking of cutting the dash, for the accessory power to the radio, I'll only forget once. . Then on to the koni shocks that have been shelfed for 10+ years. _________________ 1979 Sunroof Bus

I have become obsessed with a stupid, small detail: screws.
The exterior trim screws on my ‘71 are showing their age; the plating is coming off (they are 50 years old now) and some are sort of rusty. Rusty screws make me cranky.
I am replacing all the screws with stainless steel. Sometimes the correct size isn’t obvious, but cross-referencing part numbers (using ETKA) eventually leads me to the spec. Then there is the small matter of ordering them thru AliExpress and successfully operating a Philips screwdriver.
Be gone, rusty screws! |
