i have a 79 bus and the battery has been goin dead all the time. at first i put a trickle charger on it and it work the next day but when it sat again it went dead. now it wont even start even with jumper cables. we had it going twice tonight but it would run a little bit and die. when we tried jumping it again there was a bunch of heat and sparks comin out when we connected it and the wires started smoking off the car we jumped it with. Is this horrible batter or a generator, wiring or what? any advice would be useful! |

Check the battery for correct voltage. It should read 12v with the engine off and around 14v with the engine running and revved up a little. If the first number is low you may have a bad battery. If the second number is low, bad alternator.
Was the smoke and sparks coming from the Bus? If so start checking wire connections. I guess it doesnt matter there souldn't be sparks or smoke from either vehicle. Check those wires.
