Yes, you are probably right, they will do flat rate. 3 hours at $90 a flat rate hour. Does that sound like a better deal?
If thats too expensive for you, then maybe you need to rearrange your schedual to fit in the 3 hours to do it your self.
By the time you drop off the parts or the car and have someone else drag you home and then go pick it up, you probably lost 4 hours dealing with it.
It's your car, get to know it better and get in there and bleed a little!
Of course if you are just using the time thing as an excuse to not have to admit you have no tools, money or skills...... _________________ Mother Nature is a Mean Evil Bitch! |

That is $90 an hour PLUS the Front end alignment PLUS balancing your tires so for a 3 hour job you can do yourself $500 will probably be closer to the truth. _________________ Looking for a 58 euro hardtop! |

Why would you need to balance the tires to put in dropped spindles? |

I think an assumption was made that he wouldn't be running the same tires with drop spindles... Otherwise no wheel balancing would not be required.
Local market will dictate shop rate Mechanical shops around here are $115/hr
Some independants might give you a break but... $500 for a proper install sounds about right. _________________ Air and Water are needed to survive,

Are the spindles already built? Or do they need to be honed, bushed, with the king and links installed with a press. Just to build the spindles in my neck of the woods is around $200.
Also consider that you might need new tie rod ends, bearings and you have to shim for proper front wheel camber. Depending how low you go you might want to do the flip kit for bump steer. |

Just dig in and do it yourself. By the time you read this thread for 2 hours you could be almost done and doing the ghetto alignment.
