Is this correct? i thought I'd read somewhere that non barndoor wolfsburg bumpers also had weld nuts but the spacing was slightly different to Barndoor ones - I could be wrong but would like someone to confirm please.

I don't know when it changed to say it's an exact Barndoor vs. non-Barndoor thing but I definitely have owned Wolfsburg bumpers without weld nuts on them.

I have a pretty clean original paint one right now with no nuts - it's not damaged or modified.

Looking for a bumper for my 52, how is that different to a 53-55 as listed on the Klassic Fab site?

Cheers. Dave

I'm not aware of any difference on the front bumper.
I'm not sure why it wouldn't be listed as 1950-55

Thanks Everett. I've been thinking about that and wonder if it's related to rear bumpers starting in 53? I couldn't fathom a difference in front bumpers. Thank you. Dave

This was the only thing I could think of too - They copied the text from a rear bumper description.

As long as you mean December, 1958, slash bumpers. Not ribbed.

The new, larger, bumpers were introduced on 29 Aug. 1958

US spec = overrriders.
You could have a Euro bumper or someone may have just filled in the holes.

I sorta think the last VIN pressed bumper bus was 384,811? I might be off by a couple.

Online 1967 Parts book says through 384999 for ribbed bumpers but that seems pretty exact.

Progressive refinements says:
384816 for new larger Euro bumpers
384875 for new larger USA style bumpers

I just came across this thread looking for reference concerning bumpers, I saw mentioned a pressed/ribbed bumper for an early truck body having a more square corner.
This reminded me of my 1957 I imported to the UK from Germany, it actually came with the pickup truck rear bumper fitted.

I found a picture for further reference.

1962 is slash
1966 is pointed.

A '66 bumper will fit fine on a '62.
The only difference in the bumper blades is the ends - slash vs. pointy
The left side rear bumper bracket is different for a '62 vs. a '66 but it's just that the '62 has a little bracket to hold the 40hp exhaust pipe.
Same shape as '66, the extra bracket was just eliminated.

Rebuilding my 60 bus and had to purchase another front bumper. It’s not a deluxe bumper so no trim holes. Can anyone send me pics and measurements on the location of the trim? Distance from the guards or the end of the bumper? Any help would be appreciated.

Philip

I found this thread with some measurements, the distance is inconsistent:

I added the above link to the first post of this thread too, for future reference.
