My 69 had been sitting for a few years prior to latest resurrection. She's all tuned up and running beautifully, but there is nastiness lurking in the gas tank.
Is the consensus to just fill her with the top grade gas and change out the fuel filter as often as necessary?

changing the tank would be a more logical solution.takes time, but pretty straightforward.

Change the tank if you can easily find one. When I pulled mine out, after it sat for several years, I was horrified to see how nasty the rust was.

Changing the fuel filter every week will work for a while. But because the filter doesn't trap 100% of the carp, you'll also have a carb to rebuild more frequently. Even finding another tank, you'll have the same problem soon. The best thing to do is to have the tank conditioned at a radiator shop. They do sell the home kits but it's your own fault if you screw it up. Then your back to square one. I've done countless tanks over the years. They run about $100 and I've never had one come back. Pulling them and reinstalling them is the hardest thing. Good Luck.
