Okay, its a late Digijet with the single throttle switch, and the 3 groove main pulley.

In the past 2 weeks ive had to replace the water pump and then the clutch. I get the clutch all replaced, engine put back in, everything hooked up as it should be. When i was replacing the water pump, i took off the dizzy (i think this could be the source of my troubles), but im pretty sure i got the timing set right when i reinstalled it.

Saturday im driving up to the ski resort, and between 2500-3000 rpm, the engine starts loosing power for a few seconds and then *click* right back at full power. At revs above 3000, it runs great, no problems.

I guess another thing besides timing could be the O2. They probably don't like coolant and PB blaster all over them.

On the main pulley, to which mark do i set the timing? It has the dished notch on the second pulley, and the V notch on the first. Bentley is silent here, it just explains the single groove pulley.

Oh yeah, and my mileage suuuuucks now too.

The V notch is your timing mark, while the dished mark gives you TDC.

I would try to time it at speed. 28-32 ° BTDC @3000ish rpms with the hoses off if IIRC, Use the dished mark to do this, that is why it is there.

Clark,
Did you have the engine out? The one thing that acts like flipping a switch is the Throttle Switch. At that RPM range it will try to drop down to 1K and above that range it will go to full rich. You may have worried one of the wires and it is doing it randomly. Easy system to check, the 85's have either a two or one switch system depending on the SN cut I think.

Mine would stick early on when I got the van, it was like it was haunted. If I pulsed the throttle, it would then come back to life.

Yeah, i pulled the whole thing out. I made sure to check the operation of the switch (mines a single), just with my ear though, not a VOM, so good call there. I did the pulsing thing, and i got me home. Ill check it at lunch.

I do think my van is haunted though, yesterday it just fixed itself. The weird throttle, the crap gas milege, and the non-operative blinker LED, all are working just fine now. Shocked

The only thing now is a little bit of hunting at idle. Easy fix though Smile
