I saw this guy at Descend on Bend.
I didn't talk to him but other folks who did, said he made it,
and was planning to sell them.
In Jimf909's pic it's a different pop-top than what he had at DOB. oops maybe not... _________________

There was a bit of handmade quality to it but just a bit. The Westy pop-top lines were nicely reflected in the high-top portion. _________________ - Jim

Thanks for the helpful link. I like the bulkhead seen in the interior shot. I didn't get close enough to see that yesterday.

That looks to be a DIY top modification. The European high top pop tops whether Reimo or Carthago have a wider shape, from gutter to gutter.
Cool, though. _________________ '84 Vanagon GL 1.9 WBX

He created a mold to reproduce them. Not sure if they are in production yet. _________________ VW LT40 build. Like a Vanagon but 30% larger in every direction and 40% slower even in metric.

Well, whom ever 'He' is, he needs add the front part next. Whats the point of the luggage rack anymore.. include that in the new mold. Put the 'luggage' INSIDE under there..

I saw that van and met the owner at Cape Lookout campground in Oregon a couple of summers back. Really nice setup.

Didn't get a pic of the one today on I-95 northbound near Fredericksburg VA. Nice yellowish-cream Westy with white poptop, roofrack and top box, lift and alloys. _________________ '87 Westy in Wolfram Grey Metallic |

All the Vanagons, Westy's and Syncro's seen on the ferries...how come ya don't wear themed clothes so we can find each other onboard? _________________ This free advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.

Don't know if it's the light (or the shadows), but man, this van is beautiful!

I think that's spotter (singular). Why go looking for vans when they come to you? _________________ '87 Westy in Wolfram Grey Metallic |
