Seen in Ponderay, ID a few weeks back. While I was taking this photo a split drove by in the snow. Seeing a high-top and a splittie seemed unusual but I don't know these parts very well.

I had to go pick up the mail today at Palm Harbor Marina and found a Westie tucked away in the corner of the parking lot when I pulled in. It's got to be a yachtie since it strategically located for long term parking where it will get the least dents! (it's a lousy lot for parking.)

I looked it up on Google. The town is Ponderay. It is located on Lake Pend Oreille (pronounced Ponderay). It's an Idaho thing.

That's pretty funny. I grew up in the eastern suburbs of Spokane, so I've probably heard of Ponderay in the news reports, but never knew it was its own bastardization of the French. Idaho is really weird. Really really weird.

What about Colorado's own Purgatoire River, known locally to non-French speakers as the Picketwire?

Correct on all counts.

Lake Pend Oreille drains into the Pend Oreille River and is surrounded by a dozen or more other things named Pend Oreille but by time the hillbillies from the east (or wherever) came to create the metropolis of 1,137 citizens they changed the spelling to precisely how it sounds. It's a kindness extended to the rest of us hillbillies who try to call the lake "Penned Oriole".

My French runs out of gas at cul de sac.

It's so great to see Sunny back on the road and being used and abused as intended!

Carrying bikes like that is how I burned up my rear wiper motor. It accidentally got turned on and the rack restricted it's movement.

That bike is no where near the window. There is a tire in the way. Steve and Sunny are on their way from Maryland to Baja. Safe travels.

Didn't get a picture of it, but spotted a Bordeaux Red Metallic Westy with a SA grill in Queen Anne, Seattle pulling into B & E Meats and Seafood. Had zero time to pull in with my e30 but wished I could've said hello, and perhaps offered a price on your Westy. Smile
