Sunday's 375 mile drive from Idaho to Seattle...
Pulling up the grade westbound out of Vantage and the Columbia River on I-90...(a 2,300 ft gain in elevation slog for Vanagons, semi trailers and knuckleheads in overloaded rvs often seen pulled over sending up smoke signals from overheated motors)...
Shortly after that was another...
Near home on Beach Drive in Seattle...
And another...

Did you say West Germany? I believe you've invoked a kerfuffle with the time warp gods and mind bending anachronisms will muddle brains for weeks to come. _________________ - Jim

Sitting at a stop sign waiting on traffic coming down off of Mount Seymour this afternoon I caught a glimpse of what looked to be a beauty of a Westfalia going by.
Lucky to come up alongside later at a stoplight, I got him to roll down his window and called out, "tell me that's a '91!" and it was. He also said "third generation!" as he pulled away. Now whether he meant T3 or third owner in the family I'm not sure. Orly Blue, 16's, full length awning and absolutely cherry.
Mine is in hibernation but I mentioned "I have an '87!" |

Only saw ONE Vanagon in my entire 10 days (saw it twice, once camping and then a couple days later, on the road).

While looking around for vacant land for sale, I found a 1 acre property south of Yelm, WA. The listing agent took a pic of the partial lake view, but we all know they were really focused on the Syncro Westy.

If you buy the land it'll be tough--or inspirational-- to see that every day. _________________ '87 Westy in Wolfram Grey Metallic |

Saw an orange tintop on 11th East and 17th South in Salt Lake City. I was just pulling out of the 7-11 when it blew by going the other direction. I was in my white Weekender. Also I pass my neighbors White Bostig Camper which is 1/2 block down my street. |

I just saw a tornado red Vanagon in the center of Granby, CT earlier this week. I've never seen it around and couldn't get close. I was in my blue/white 1983 |

Saw it couple days ago at the Home Depot in Redmond, WA - I'm guessing things might be going well, if they can keep both a Tesla and a Vanagon!

Ok, With the help of Google street view and too much free time, I think I found the very parking spot (red car).
https://www.google.com/maps/@47.6707743,-122.10239...8192?hl=en
If this is where they parked, I have a few questions.
1. If this is a Home Depot customer, why park so far away and behind a bunch of shrubbery? It hasn't been hot enough to want to park in shade.
2. Maybe it's a Depot employee, but again why park in a spot making it easy for thieves to scope it out?
3. Maybe the van was already stolen and dumped?
4. A spot for camping?
If I had a mint Westy like that and parked in that spot, it would be to have a quiet lunch or waiting for someone. I would still be in the van and not leave it alone. I know Redmond is a nice place, but probably not the best spot to park.

I think the google pic is deceptive. Anyone that goes to that hd on a regular basis, does not park nearer the store. Nearer the store front, is a great place to get into a fender bender, or, at the very lest, get tied up in traffic.
I do not like going to that store. |
