I almost never see one here in ATL. I occasionally see a white bay westy in the Smyrna area (he honked and peace signed me once) but that's really it.
The funny thing is now my mother-in-law calls us when she sees one and lets us know where and what it looked like _________________ 1985 Westfalia 1.9 WBX |

I saw 5 yesterday. I was at Ben's place.

It felt like going to a stripper's club... And one had its underwear off...
It felt good to see the real stuff, not just online porn.

Awesome stuff!
I love its front bar. It's said racknroad. I found the shop, but no such thing on the website.
JP in Montreal. It just started melting... |

Saw a white '83 westy sitting in it's usual parking spot under an apartment building on Seminary Drive. Then I saw a silver '88-'91 Westy packed to the gills with junk over at the Shelter Bay apts. I guess the owner is using it as a second garage. Just up the hill I saw a rusty cream-colored '84 Westy at the Eucalyptus Knolls. Then I headed down to Sausalito where I saw a white Carat on Bridgeway Blvd, a blue '88-'91 MV, a white '82 diesel Westy with a grill that appeared to have had a collision with a bird. The next 3 I saw were over at Gate 41 where all the boat-houses are (not so sure if it's Gate 41 or not). There I saw a white '88-'91 Westy with a car cover on it, a blue '88-'91 westy with GW bumpers and wheels and finally an immaculate red Syncro Westy that's obviously a vehicle purchased from GW cause it had all the wonderful stuff anyone could ever want on it. There are too many upgrades/accessories on it to describe. Later on during my bike ride I saw a restored red & white '71 bay window, and two more creme colored Westy's on the same street over by my house.
This is all in the course of a couple of hours. My bike ride takes me from Strawberry Point down to the heart of Sausalito and back into Strawberry/Mill Valley and to Tiburon where I turn around and go home.
If I ever go into downtown Mill Valley I always see loads of vanagons just waiting to be driven somewhere, same thing if I go deeper into Sausalito. _________________ -Matt |

Here in North Dallas, I never even see Bucko in his Vanagon driving to work. We are meeting up in Coppell on Saturday at Andy Brown park if any other interest. Just to chat and look at air conditioner lines...all in fun. In the past 5 years, my 84' has become more regarded than it ever was back in the 1900's. I guess I am getting more hip. Started my Bus life in a 67 Kombi, through to a 76', then a 79" Westfalia for my two month honeymoon, then on to my current 84. I have had it fourteen years now. Her name Heffewagen. |

How do you know it's not already on ebay?
j/k I needed one (only had a Haynes before) but I couldn't force myself to spend even the low low price of $60 for a new one. |

Mostly in my dreams here in (very) rural Northwest Arkansas. Not exacly the land of Van-Cafe and GoWesty. My '84 Westy is the only one I see regularly. I know there have to be some more around though. Eureka Springs is a semi-hippie kind of tourist town about 25 miles away. There have to be at least few lurking around there. Anybody on here from my area. |
I hear ya my fellow Arkansan! I'm not too far away in Mountain Home. I seen maybe 3 other vanagons in the past year. Just a couple of weeks ago we were close to your area in berryville ar. _________________ 89 Bostig powered syncro westy |

I just got back from a 5 day 1200 mile trip in my 89 Westy w/Subaru, 16in Audi Tires...White.
Vegas >Zion NP >Bryce > Escalante >Calf Creek Falls >Capitol Reef NP >Canyonlands NP >Moab >Arches NP > Monument Valley >Page, AZ > Vegas....
I counted 19 westy's. But 12 of them (Syncros) were in a caravan out of Moab...they were dirty and dusty as hell, but they looked fun.
Saw one bad ass 89 with a porsche engine...Old guy was on his 14th VW he said...

My neighbor on my right has an 83 Westy, my neighbor on my left has a 86 Synchro w/ Country Homes conversion. There's a diesel Westy down the street by 4 blocks and another 86 Westy down the street in the other direction by about 10 blocks. And one of my best friends has a 90 Westy. _________________ 89 Westy

Aside from my silver 87, I only see 2 other Vanagons in State College, PA.
One is a tornado red carat (wolfy) and the other is a brown/tan 84? gl. Still haven't had the chance to catch up with them but always wondered if they posted/lurked here. _________________ 09 Suzuki SX-4 Crossover |

Besides my two....
- There is one in my neighborhood.
- There is a 1.9 Westy being stored in a parking lot I drive by to/from work.
-There was another one day a little a head of me on the road. I tried to catch up, but was unsuccessful. _________________ '69 Mike
